I’ve been championing Drake as a dope lyricist and songmaker since last summer. This it not to say that I am any sort of authority as I am clearly a Johnny-arrive-lately but what I am saying is that people call him overrated and poppy and such – I disagree. Dude can rap.

That said…why is Heartbreak Drake so startled by being flashed by an overzealous female fan?

I won’t comment on what he does further in the video.

Even so I anticipate “Thank Me Later.”

Good catch on staying in the verse after the impromptu “OH MY GOD!”

I love all things “Back to the Future” and I hope she said yes or at least was nice enough to say yes in public.

Once upon a time I had this job and there was this guy that ran the sales floor named Dave.

Dave is a real go-getter. Type A personality type dude.

Dave is also a finisher, the type of guy that will have an idea and actually follow through with it.

“Tall, Grande, or Venti”  is one of Dave’s brilliant ideas outside of the magic he works in sales.

I thought Joell Ortiz’s flip of Beamer, Benz, or Bentley into “Nissan, Honda, Chevy” was brilliant.

When I was younger I used to read a lot of comic books. My friend Kofi and I used to draw comic books as well, guest penciling each other’s universes sometimes. We were really into Image comics and even at 12 we knew there was something not quite right with the comics that Rob Liefeld drew. I was never big on any of his Image titles, esp not Youngblood. I always thought his comics were just…mindless violence. Shouts out to Jim Lee he was always my favorite. Kofi was big on Todd McFarlane. Anyway, the homey DJ Hyphen posted this link of these cats at ProgressiveBoink.com clowning Rob Liefeld very heavy on Twitter and I thoroughly enjoyed the read so I figured I’d share it with y’all.

There’s a lot of stories about Canibus that have fueled his mystique over the years. There’s the one about him battling several members of Wutang and sonning 10 of them before Killah Priest came through and shut it down. There’s one about him doing shows painted silver. And then there’s the one about him being on Smookin’ Groves performing “2nd Round Knockout” with a lion onstage.

Good afternoon folks!

It’s another one of those lazy Sundays. Actually, being lazy on Sunday is still kinda new to me to be honest. Without a 9 to 5 everyday essentially has the same value so really I have no excuse to take a day off hahha!

Anyway I’m here to tell you about my new video “Drifting with the Tide” ft. Awar. It dropped on Thursday and the song is produced by the homey Vanderslice. The video is directed by Matt Hobbs. The enchanting Lilibeth Perez plays the mermaid and Natalia Estevez plays herself but doesn’t really “play herself”…what I mean is she plays Awar’s girl which she also is in real life hahahhaa. Jonathan Eckels handles both of their makeup. Tony Fazio and a bunch of other heads that who ain’t on my facebook friends list helped out as well. Chum was moral support as well hahahaha. Oh and Awar is driving my car – holla! If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check for it here:

I was thinking that I could explain this but what’s the fun in that? One of the things I love the most about how I write is that different people can get different things from it. It’s like I make jigsaw puzzles and deliver them without the box so you have to come up with your own idea of how it’s supposed to look ultimately or you can figure out exactly what it was to me when I wrote it. Making a video adds a whole new dimension to it though…makes it more definitive…but even so I feel like the video is still kinda open ended…

I said all of that to say this: We’re in a very interactive internet world so instead of explaining it…what I’m gonna do is post the rhyme and you guys can just ask me whatever you want about the verse and video and we can discuss it.
